If I could interview anyone in the world, I would interview Sacajawea. At first, the names that slipped into my mind were Coco Chanel, Princess Kate and Prince William, and Jane Austin. But what strikes me about Sacajawea is her epic quest across the frontier, having the courage and strength to lead grown men through the wilderness. I can't even comprehend the amount of strength, peace, leadership, and bravery she had to have.
I would love to dig deep into her personal hardships, the areas of her heart that were wounded and contained overwhelming emotion. I would want to know how she dealt with fear, and how she felt, as a woman, leading her wild exhibition. I would ask her about the most scary moment she had, what her thoughts were in the midst of pondering life and death in the face of danger. I would ask her about who she loved, and I would uncover her longing to be protected instead of being the protector. Her life, filled with so many adventures, astounds me and makes me want to be her best friend.
Now for the second question. I am tied between wanting to be a journalist in London or a journalist in Nairobi, Kenya. My instinct says that I would want to write in London, being inspired by the history and architecture. It would be my dream to write for a fashion corporation, having an office overlooking the aged country and communicating with others with British accents. I just got chills thinking about this fantasy.
Although this dream is luxurious and beautiful, I can also imagine myself being a journalist in Kenya. The mission trip I took to Nairobi changed my life, and my heart now has a special place for that country. My dream in Kenya would be to reveal the poverty and desperation of the families residing in the slums. I want to make a difference in the world with my writing. I would encourage the government and neighboring countries to take action to stop the downward spiral of hopelessness. This would be a dangers job, but I feel like it is truly needed. People need to know the need, and know that these kids walking with bare feet through sewage to get to school need our help.
No matter what I end up writing throughout my life, my goal is to impact my readers gradually and get to a place where my writing is respected at a level where people will be inspired to make a difference on their own.
This was amazing! I love how you feel about Sacajawea. She is very inspirational. I love both of the places you would like to be a journalist in. The most important thing is that you want to make a difference, and I think that's awesome of you. I'm sure you will be an amazing journalist in whatever country you choose.
